There are a few problems with the current hero build data on Dotabuff. First, what is popular is not always good. Secondly, there are many viable builds which don’t make it near the top of our aggregates. Finally, it’s difficult to set goals without tangible examples of what is possible in a pub.
We aim to provide a different type of guide on Dotabuff. Traditional guides tend to be wordy, sometimes explaining only one or two ways to build a hero and spending a lot of time going over the basics. This works for first time players, but can be uninspiring for an experienced Dota player. Not everyone has the patience to read through paragraphs about how and why to build a hero, and some players just learn better by example. Traditional guides also tend to lag behind the current meta and suffer from a lack of updates from the author.
With Dotabuff guides we are attempting to give you an easy way to digest several different hero builds quickly. Get a sense of what is working for pub players right now at a very high MMR, and rapidly understand the common options and combinations for success.
Dotabuff Hero Guides build on TrueSight, Hero Rankings and Rating Buddy to find the most statistically compelling matches from the last few days and showcase players who did well on a hero. Because all guides are from recent matches, you don’t need to worry about them being out of date. Guides are short and simple, showing you only the information you need to make informed decisions.
You can use Hero Guides to quickly see how high MMR players play heroes they’re experienced with, and use their choices as a foundation for your next match. Scan the list to see what’s trending and successful on a hero, either to use yourself or to counter an opponent in your match.
Hero Guides are based on individual matches. They reveal details like lane presence, kills and team fight participation, farm and last hitting, item build progression and ability build choices. Each performance also shows an indicator of the estimated skill of the match (Solo Ranked MMR) and how close the match was, ranging from “a very close match” to “a stomp”.
Guides aren’t rankings, but they do feature real players and are ordered based on a number of factors such as the quality of the match (skill, closeness and volume of action), the experience a player has on the hero, the player’s effectiveness and the balance of the teams in the match.
We see Hero Guides as an essential tool for learning or mastering a hero. Matches that are featured in guides all have complete TrueSight statistics and can be viewed without a Plus subscription. Don't be afraid to click the "View Match" link to get the whole story behind a build.
Hero Guides are based on real match data from people like you. Guide curation improves as more people play great matches. We need your data to make the system even better! Here's a quick list of how you can contribute and be featured in hero guides:
Hero Guides are free and available right now. Look for the Guides tab on your favorite hero page.
useless glimcape
Shit hero, anybody can play that... mmr abuser hero
What do the different highlight colors on the items represent?
The icons with blue outline denote boot choice. The bright yellow outlined icons have a CSS class named importance-very-high, while the fainter yellow outlined icons have a CSS class name importance-high. Glean from that what you will.
My guess is faint yellow denotes situational items, and bright yellow denotes core items.
I suggest buying soul ring b4 soul booster after arcanes, so it's gives u faster farm
the people in the comment section seeing the picture... :( its just an example okay? dont take it seriously like omfg
The problem with any example-driven approach is that it doesn't show you /why/ someone made the particular choices that they did, so you might end up with a build completely unsuited for your matches.
The worst part with those leshrac pickers IS they didnt even know the hero existed before this patch.
I loved TI2 leshrac I really adored him but now this hero is literally an abomination.
Stun made easy to land with lighting and lighting is like upheaval without having to channel .Valve please fix this crap.
The only good part is making leshracs -> LESHREKT because leshracs alongside Bloodseeker pickers have the most tasty tears on this game.
Awesome!
I hope I'll be featured some time C:
Nice.
ebanko
oh wow so people with ~50 sf games gets featured cus they cheated their way up high mmr like every other high mmr player right yeah
since when did db descend into some kind of snobbery, or do you genuinely don't care what newbs learn from
you need consistency to tell a story, not some one time success story of a player. even most pro players don't know what they are doing most of the time and they don't even play at low mmr. there is no mmr system where everyone always gets wiped to 0 head start after every update or every month. Without that you don't get nearly acceptable a system no matter how many sheeple are playing the game and last I check there ain't a lot of numbers rising the past half year at all, even the turnout at ti5 sucks
Not enough salt in the word for this comment section.
