its said but is the truth ... dotabuff release the Premium section to make money with others jobs... i think valve realise of that and they said no way ...they was on without problems for soo long , but since they release the premium they got this problem .. so think about it

i think that , you cant ask for money for something that doenst belongs to you... i feel rly sorry for dotabuff couse it was a realy good web , but they made this huge mistake... i hope they find another way to keep working ...

Indirectly yes. But only because the dotabuff guys were getting their data by using unofficial, unsupported means. No games company would allow that to go on.

If the site was using the official API, Valve wouldn't have had any issue with the site trying to monetise its user base in any way it saw fit, whether via ads or premium services.

They took a business risk because they wanted to be the first defacto stats site and used methods not supported by Valve. They would have likely been able to continue doing just that but their DBR ranking system and premium features saw them take things too far and Valve were forced to step in and force them to use their API. It would have happened eventually, Dotabuff just made it happen sooner rather than later.

If they had waited (used ads to cover costs perhaps) they would have been able to keep going and transition to an API that would be by then far more stable and feature complete. Instead they are now in their current position.

People seem to forget this game is still a beta and under active development. If you invest time and money into a project such as this its a business risk. They know this and have unfortunately alienated Valve and a large section of the Dota 2 community with how they have handled things these past few days.
