I think its mostly communication. They do different hero combos because they know what the other guy is thinking.
And for the item builds...... countering maybe? it doesnt say that you should always buy this items for that hero, its only recommended.
I saw your other thread. People would get angry at you if you try new lane combos because most of the people playing Doto
thinks that you should only do this and that because yeah, the pro's did it.
If you're trying new things, at least make sure that it makes sense. In CM mostly people insta picks or bans Magnus, Enigma, Bounty, Naga
and Batrider simply because they are strong and not because of the reason that they are trying to counter the other teams strat. Watch talkdota sometimes they talk about these weird things.
Tusk + Centaur is great combo...but it is risky and you have to know how to play it right. 2 random ppl are likely to fail. It takes practice to get it right. It also requires trust. These things do not magically develop between strangers who solo qued into a CM game. That is why you had trouble.
You need to find a friend and say, Hey lets play some Centaur +Tusk games! Then do it 4 or 5 times in a row and it will work very well for you after you have practiced a bit. But the relationship needs to be there strong enough to survive mistakes. Also this combo is not new. I saw Centaur Tusk lanes the first day that Tuskar was introduced to dota 1 over a year ago.
Any time you want to try something new. Pick a friend and explain what you want to do. Then try it for several games until you know it can work or cannot. You need to be able to lose some games with it and not give up to get enough practice to really test a new idea (new to you or really new). So you need someone willing to lose and do it again anyway.
@Eul, I guess thats how pubs work. Unless the majority of the community changes, people will be like that. I guess I'm in the wrong for expecting high level cooperation and thinking from people who just wanna have fun.
@Relentless, most of my friends think new things are stupid so its sort of complicated. Yeah, its not exactly new but can be considered relatively. I only found out about it from on of your past threads.
Actually, same as treant - weaver was a deadly combination, we all know what abba will fill even better in this situation. I don't see anyone rejecting that it is really strong combination. Weaver is also deadly hero by it self, as we could see in ti3 it was one of the most picked heroes.
Beforehand while abba wasn't up in dota2 yet, some pro's said that it is a really strong hero and very flexibile and that it may be picked in the new meta. And we all see that he is a strong hero - in pubs and in competitive scene.
What it matters to trying new things, i agree. I really want to see new heroes/tactics/itembuilds it makes watching doto more interesting.
I also think that tiny-cent is a stronger combination than tusk+cent for many reasons. But i don't know if someone tried it in competitive now becouse i rarely watch ( no time ).
Just queue with one or two friends and setup a really nice dual or tri lane. I play visage and cm all the time with spirit breaker or skele king or other carries with decent disables. Makes a strong lane.

Even among friends, be it lineups, hero combos, laning/jungling or unique item builds.
Nobody just wants to freaking acknowledge new ideas. Even if you come up with something half decent, everyone would be 'no that wouldn't work, pros aren't using it.'
Just think before weaver+loa. The idea of it in competitive would have absolutely been rejected.
Why loa when weaver alone is enough? Wasted exp.
Loa sucks he has no stun.
Etc and etc.
Then pro teams start to use it and some own with it and everyone shuts the fuck up.
If you try something new, your chances of failing are increased because you have not tried and tested it and teammates don't know how to work with it. Does that mean its fail or not viable? And people will at most give you one chance to prove it. Before dismissing it as fail.
So if an Alchemist feeds just once, does it make it not viable?
