I get aghanims not for the larger dps but for the 20 sec cooldown. If one has enough mana lion can use it twice in a team fight. Also aghanims give survivability, intelligence and a slightly more mana and health pool. Also if u use veil of discord, the total damageturns out to be 1250 neglecting magical armor. I agree its really expensive, but I feel it is worth it.
Before 6.79 I would get sb on lion.
As a support, always buy ward/sentry/smoke from time to time.
buy mek/vlad/drum if no one else buy them. (They are great and cheap !)
I don't feel lion need a sept. 20s cd is way too long to cast twice in a team fight.
For 4200, mek+drum is a better option. you got +14 str/alg/int (sept) and team heal and some decent aura. con is that they took 2 item slots.
Being a MID LANE lion. I think a fast mek will be great (before 15min, if your LH is good, before 10min). It makes early team fight and gank much easier.
ADD EBLADE :D, bkb wouldnt be bad either, u dont want to be focused and survive long enough to ulti twice
Refresher on Lion is worth another stun, hex, and ult...if you somehow had the mana pool for it.
Seriously though...mech, drums, blink are all good choices. Aghs is for late game if its still going somehow. But I think even there fstaff and ghost into eblade would still be better before aghs.
You just don't need that super short cd. 40 s is already very short. No reason to go to 20 s. 20 s is still to long for 1 teamfight. Any time you are thinking about getting aghs you have to think first: "will I survive the teamfight?" because if you don't then you won't be alive 20 sec later to ult again anyway. Get items to survive the fight and 40 s later you can ult again.
It's not only about teamfights. Agh's is very good for defending towers. When you have agh's you got your ulti for each creep wave. When you see their carry hitting your tower, you just use finger and he insta-loses half his HP. And if they don't back out in time you can initiate with hex and you might even kill their carry before he can use BKB.
okay sam can you post last game where someone on your mmr lvl made a difference in game thanks to 20s cd ulti on lion? :C all that talk about ulti avi each creep wave/ulting tower pushing carry is nice but not a single sane team will let u follow with disables on their carry after lions ult

just go blink forcestaff like most utility heroes be aggressive when your ult is up and supportive during the downtime. honestly if you want to rape face early play pug and rush dagon

Whenever I mid solo lion, I generally get phase boots, aghanims sceptor, blink and veil of discord. Are there any other items useful for him?
