No, can't rely on it either cuz people listen to music alot and ping is more responsive.

in all my games I have only had one player use it effectively in solo que

i normally see people using it for raging purposes but i prefer the keyboard for that.
ive had a few people in my games using it quite effecively but usually people ignore it/mute it/complains 'bout annoying voice or some bullshit like that.

I am talking a lot when i am in mood and not listening to music, it's super effective if you have a good mic. Just don't bother expressing anything complex, but it helps with simple commands like "go", "back", "gather", "k, sorry mate", "kill mister scandal" and so on.

I like it when someone uses it and he actually has leading skills, and not talking too complex just go, back, push, stun now, etc, and when we are just farming/waiting, he sometimes says something more complex. Thats good. I usually use it only when i really need to say something quick, like I want to salve up someone early game and hes running from me, or when I want to go for a kill and want to say my lane partner that I start with x, he contniues with y after that or something. If we have time I prefer typing or chatwheel and ofc pings. Aaand with my voice, I dont really like talking there. I mean, its okey on skype/ts, ppl have time before game to be supprised, after that they can confentrate on game, not typing OMG in chat when they are supposed to fight...

dota 2 is a teamwork game and voice chat is crucial to achieve teamwork especially during team fights when you don't have time to type out who to focus on or who to stun. Yes, you can plan out the strategy before a fight is coming by typing it out to team, but alot of times you need to improvise tactics at a moments notice. Only voice chat can achieve that.

skype or teamspeak does that, ingame voice chat in pubs is just a bunch of dickless virgins screaming in their mic while their mom isnt home

However if your a natural leader than using voice chat people are more likely to agree with you

it depends on how retarded your team is.

I just bought a new headset so that I can voice chat with my team. Until now, very rarely people have been jerks though.

the people who use it in solo queue are so few and far between I can tell the players when they talk, like oh its THAT doom again or urgh not that whiny jugg again even though i don't remember their names

its annoying when you set your language preferences and 2/3 stacks go on and on in some other language, forcing you to tell them you're muting

banish heroes should definitely use voice though
