All the friends who come online at specific times and play like 2-3 games a day seem to be more alert and play better than those who just grind game after game. Just from what I have seen and from personal experience.
@Havoc Badger The people who you say "come on at set times and play as a stack" they usually dont even have a solo mmr. I have 4 people on my FL with 5k+ mmr and not a single ranked solo has been played. And obviously people who play 2-3 games will have a better mmr than people who play all day.
i play all day because its fun
and i cant just not play ranked when im tired or playing worse because obviously playing vs fucking braindead assholes isnt fun! bet there are some that are like me...actually reason im not so harsh (when jugding skill) to people with 51%+ winrate with a looooooot of games
Never play at 3am-5am. Also don't que up when there's a huge tournament, since most of the regulars are watching and ur left with noobs. Avoid weekdays too at all cost.

^ I understand a bit where they are coming from. I find it quite boring to always pick the "optimal" lineup but obviously I will always try my best with the hero I am currently playing.
@hh.Nova Fuzzy doesn't abuse by stacking and queuing wierd modes that is just perhaps a little dirty but its not disallowed or an abuse and he is actually a really good player who has been playing some tournaments and such.
In short I think it is wise to pace yourself with dota, if it's going bad take a short break and stretch a little. Maybe find a dedicated role, time, or group with which you want to play if you want to get best performance out of yourself. When i solo queue or queue with pub friends I usually random but when I actually play with my team I will stick to pure supporting.
We won most of our games today while having fun and literally laughing all games long on skype, did some funny stomps, we almost throw some but then not. Its a lot more fun to even lose like this than win with people raging/being jerks with each other. With ranked on, I also start enjoying solo queue, but I def wont play more than 2 a day, and only on afternoons, when I can concentrate on the game, and after that, go back to usual stacking. I play this for fun, its more fun in stacks with skype/ts.

I feel in my opinion there is a distinct difference (exception of a few) in people that play scheduled or pre-arranged stack only times along with those who solo queue and play with regular breaks and the people who just play game after game with friends, solo, or a team/group stack.
I was observing a number of my friends and people on dotabuff who basically queue game after game with whoever is on and those who are on at specific times with a stack or a set number of friends. I think it does really help to have a calm, well rested mind to play at your best as opposed to just churning through games over and over.
Looking at some of the players with the most games a lot of them have subpar win rates simply because of their love for the game the are willing to queue and play over and over without any given thought or plan or set friends who have good communication and the ability to win.
So my advice for people looking to get better or get a better win rate or improve is to find a solid schedule and group which plays intermittently so that you are playing at your best and with you best without risking your eyes and skill getting tired and perhaps losing or just not being up to scratch.
