I bet you didn't actually read it
i posted it 30 secs ago, and you already answered
^ are you serious?
I explained in 10000 words above, what I mean
And you STILL don't understand??
Who is that? some kind of creep that crawled out your tv-screen while watching the da vinci code?
"considering i'm as good in lol as i'm in dota...." that's the key point and
How to prove that ? did you put equal time in both game ? show the screenshot.
Ok you're right, I can't prove I'm as good in dota as i'm in lol
I did not spend equal time in it, as I started dota as a complete noob
At least I already knew what to do when i started league
So i just leveled to 30 and played equal amounts of ranked games
Edit: if i knew how to post screenshots on dotabuff, I'd do it
Even if he did put equal time in both games, he can get into Dota easier than in LoL, even if this was true it would be unconclusive as there is no way to measure skill in two ~totally~ different games.
And thats why your experiment fails, because you assume you are equally good on both games which I doubt and is indeed impossible to prove.
These games are more alike than you think, I see the same mistakes being made in both games, same farming (in)capability, same map awareness and so on
Of course, i'm not EXACTLY as good in dota as i'm in that other shit
But, it won't be THAT much of a difference either
and tbh, i think 3,5k = top 20% is acceptable as a result
edit:
@emotional wreck
try to read it
I played LoL for a while, and I can say it is easier than dota in a certain level.
people there start to get gud when they reach the diamond level (~5k rating here)
Yeah, but those tiers include people who play rarely or don't play seriously. People on Dotabuff are an unrepresentative sample of the player population, because as a stats website it attracts tryhards. So while 3.5k (which is my mmr) is indeed higher than the majority of dota players, that has no relevance on where I stand compared to other players with 1.5k+ hours of playtime.
@ satellite
I think diamond is not as good as 5k in dota, maybe 4,5...now with all those smurfers, maybe...
Lol is indeed easier, for everyone...So maybe, regarding plays that are made in games....the "trench tier" in lol will be better than the one in dota. But that doesn't change the % contribution at all.
@ hardcore sex
I'm not sure what you mean (<- is this even english?)
anyways, the site calculates how good you are compared to ALL league players, not just the players of the site
And with 3,5k being top 20% of dota (not completely accurate), I mean ALL dota players that play RANKED, same for league
http://dota2toplist.com/statistics
Top 20%...bottom 40%...what's the difference?
That's about as accurate as it gets. You can't simply assume that the ranks of one game translate well into another game. Farrrr more casuals play league than dota for example.
^
dude, this is why i did this...that site only counts people that REGISTER
meaning: ITS BULLSHIT
only tryhards register on that site
My experiment is for ALL players
Perhaps 3.5k+ is 20% of the total players, because there are so much casual players, and they usually sit at 2k. But if you compare it to people who plays the game regularly, i'd say they are mostly around 4~4.5k, with a very few above 5k
Prolly 95% of dota players, is 'casual', dotabuffers are practically all tryhards that care about their mmr as much as they do about their gf, or school results.
You noticed the amount of teammate bitching lately?
Wink:
I hope this is sarcasm
Relentless was 3k trash as well
"^

Your little experiment is lacking extreme accuracy. You can't pull any amount of relevancy from it. It could only be accurate if everyone that played league also played dota and everyone that plays dota also plays league. If either of these aren't true, your experiment is immediately discredited.
Oh and fun fact, I know a diamond league player that plays dota, he struggles with upper 2k/lower 3k. Enjoy that wrench.
I can't believe only 1 or 2 peasants actually consider this might be approximately correct
Instead of bitching around about everything (talking to soultrap and empire)
Leave the mainstream, you might like thinking, instead of brainless attention whoring
Dipshit:
He has obviously played league MUCH MORE than dota
Bad argument
And again, you say: take that wrench....
tell me, what have I done to make you mad?
You know, i MISS relentless' posts here, they were interesting...this might be the reason he left? No-one cared about his posts anymore?
K, I give up....you can be trolling, or you can be serious
idc
at least give some arguments WHY it's bad and WHY i'm retarded
Cuz clearly, I'm just invalidating almost all arguments from you now
and you just go straight to the face
Let's make this a bitch thread, k?
There are only 1000's of them already
I only read the first couple of sentences and I have only one thing to say: They are not the same game. You could and should be better on one than another.
Why does everyone have to be so mean? :( You could just state your opinion and abstain from calling someone a retard. ex: I think your experiment is based on comparing 2 games that have complete different skill distribution, therefore its results are invalid.
@Sunrise
If you have ever been in a actual debate you will realize that people are mean
accept that u are trash.
Just because u are in a bracket where most people are in doesn't make you a good player u idiot. Everything under 5,5k is trash, end of story.
Give it up Moho. Most of these guys are ego tripping. They play Dota for years, yet they made smurf accounts, trashed newcomers and voila ! they have MMR above 4500.It's sick.
And becuase in thier real lives they are scared of everything, they come here to be brave over the keyboard.
2.2k Is the average MMR of the playerbase, this includes hardcore fans as well as casual players.
Why is 3k considered trash in forums? Because most people here actually care about the game and take it a lot more seriously than others, therefore they have much higher rating than the average player (4k+).
this reminds of that south park episode where they are trying desperately to drop the avg penis size
Too many nerds?
We're posting on the fora of a site that gives statistical information of a strategy game
Everyone here is a nerd.
This chamango is right, some piepel here are behaving like monkeys that want to climb on their own invented social ladder
And sunrise...being a nerd doesnt mean you dont have a life, or that you arent 'cool'
I laughed soo hard at this, thx for sharing.
Your logic is that bad I dont even think anyone should bother explaining why...
OK, i dare you to give me one reason, not: cuz the games are too different, that proves my logic sucks
I like this because it makes me feel pro. LISTEN TO THIS GUY, HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH!
Edit: It would make sense that 3.5k is in the middle though, because it happens to be around the middle of High. Why would they have a bracket with only a ~500-600 mmr spread when the other brackets have a far higher spread, other than the possibility there's a comparable amount of people in that mmr range as there are in the other brackets with much higher range? This is all stupid speculation on my part though.

I did an experiment to prove it's not.....relative to others
Experiment: play league of legends, as much ranked games as i played on dota and see where I come.
I ended mid GOLD tier, OK that is......DAMN AVERAGE. If you consider there are 2 tiers below gold and 2 tiers above
(not counting the "top 500" tier, aka challenger)
BUT, same for dota, where 3500 is the average of 1k and 6k (about the max and min of mmr's....OK I KNOW THERE ARE PLEBS HIGHER AND LOWER, but that's a detail), you'd think it's bad when you play in it and that you're better than about 50% of people.
This means the average tier, or mmr represents the most average player....better than 50% of players, worse than the other 50%
BULLSHIT
You can't see on any site, what % of players represents 3k, 4k, ...
But you CAN see what % of players the LOL TIERS represent!!! AHA!
I am currently +-3600 rating on dota (average of solo and party)
and Gold 4 on league of losers. (each tier has 5 divisions, from lower skill to higher that is: gold 5 -> gold 4 -> .... -> gold 1
On a site i found: OP.GG <- weirdass address
there is some kind of application that shows you the % of people that are better than you
WHICH IS
now it comes, the clue of the experiment
....the site crashed
ok I'll add the exact number later
anyways, it was around top 20%
SO, considering i'm as good in lol as i'm in dota....this means dat 3,5k represents top 20% of players
If you find some kind of awkward mistake in this ^ encyclopedia, just say it in the comments...i'll edit it
