mid or solo, otherwise you dont get enough levels = uselsess.
edit: i actually wrote uselsess , LOL.
i think a veil is a must have, also if u are the only support you should get a mek on him, arcane boots mandatory and
dagger or forcestaff for better positioniong.
i am not a great es, this is just my general idea of how the hero works and should be played.
he is not really a support, he needs level 6 fast to gank people, thats why mid or some safe solo matchup.
gl on improving, this hero is OP just gotta ged gud.
I can see veil but and maybe mek but same time? Go one or other? I've been going for rod first then feel stuck. Halbred does good for evasion and the utility of the disable is situational. Team fight are a bitch because you get immediately focused as the team watches you die.( even when standing right next to you). I'm gonna repeat that there is no way that this guy is a support. Played him enough to know that. But again his right clicks suck and he has a slow attack speed. So in lane only, go helm? Lincons? Blademail don't really do much I've seen. More thought from people that are good with him please and thanks for the responses
in dota everything is possible so insteada of asking if try to figure out how!!!! and when you do find out, DONT SHARE IT cause thats how you get to be better.
Proof? my drow mid :B
edit: dont just try drow mid cause thats not all to it and you would end up feeding big time
@Benao
In Dota everything is not possible unless the other teams are morons.
Otherwise 9/10 games is the same thing. Some scrub playing tinker, some scrub playing void who has long as he farms and doesn't feed will most likely win game.
You know how you know how many scrub douches there are? Ask yourself where did all the douches who last patch were running Lycan/NP go? They are playing Tinker/Void because it is easy with high reward and epeen boost.
@Reporting is for Pussies
your post doesnt even make sense
while dota is largely a game of capitalizing on mistakes, many things are still possible regardless of how the opponent plays
For original poster.
Veil is most definitely not mandatory. I only get it if I already am owning my offlane solo and the other team seems to not understand your ult. Or if you have another tank who also initiates.
Classy. BTW why you in this post anyways 0 games on Earth Spirit guy? Too complicated a hero for you to learn maybe?
^---kill yourself your retarded.
ES = lowest win % hero in the game.
You don't even have a 2KDA as drow you want anyone to believe you could even win as earth spirit against bots?
@zenoth
Let's be honest there wouldn't be so many consistencies (heroes played) in the pro game or the pub game if anything was possible.
possible =/= optimal
pros goes for optimal
doesnt make alot of things any less possible
if not why do you think the meta keeps changing?
@Reporting is for Pussies
KDA means nothing as long as you win the game, look at his tower damage in his games
@HotSalza
The games he isn't throwing on purpose? http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/816948782
Also your the picture perfect example of what I am talking about. 6.80-6.81 people that mainly play mids all rushed onto the Invoker gravy train and now that Tinker is the easier thing to do with more epeen rewards they all play that now. Your a direct reflection of that.
The meta changes because of the patches or the pros showing the average population how to do more as a hero and better.
Your question is hard to find at times due to it being a wall of text almost.
Honestly look at your team and the matchup. The longer you can also go with just standard items like un upgraded boots, non upgraded wand imo for offlane the better. This will buy you time to figure out what the team really needs.
From my experience off laning as Earth Spirit I typically go for a urn first.
Your touching on the best part of Earth though its not like Tinker where maybe 6 slots is the same 95% of the time you can be flexible to your team and theirs.
who the fuck is fuzzy foot
if you want to see some decent ES matches and how to play the hero then here u go:
http://www.dotabuff.com/players/26771994
he is one of the best if not the best ES player in the world. As far as i can tell ES is all about positioning, teamplay and decisionmaking. Since i'm more of a loner and usually suck at positioning i suck with ES, go figure.
That's what I was assuming here guys.....no one has a clue. I was thinking that maybe urn forcestaff as core items with a bkb and now need to think of a good damage item. That's particularly where I am getting stuck or another tank item
Force staff overrated and most games feel like your the sole initiator and str hero.
I find myself a lot of games now forced to get mek and then either heaven's halberd if right click heroes or pipe if magic damage ones.
^
good thing noone gives a shit.

Don't listen to these scrubs, go support earth spirit, mana boots + force staff and ward thats all
Tranq, Mek, Pipe, Maelstrom. ggwp.
Tranq, Dagon5. ggwp.
That's the way to go.
I'm far away from being good - but managed my way through after first 50 games or so building shit items like arcanes and blademail.
> normal skill
> not even 50% w/r on ES
watch jerax's games : http://dotaflame.com/jeraxai/107-Earth-Spirit
watch him, see what he does, and more importantly, why he does what he does.
e.g. why he builds a certain item, why he skills a certain skill over another at level x/y/z

Maybe you start using the options DotaBuff gives you.
If you try Item Builds vs. different teams you need to filter the failbuilds with arcanes and forcestaff out.
Dagger so much better.
plus if you look at his item stats on earth spirit here:
http://www.dotabuff.com/players/26771994/items?date=&faction=&hero=earth-spirit&lobby_type=&game_mode=&duration=&metric=used
you can see that even after 400 games there's not any item that he gets on ES extremely often besides wand and bottle, compared to something like manta style on anti mage, so build ES according to the situation.
if you want to get better, just play more games, and try not to stick to a rigid item build since you're 3k you can pretty much win with any item or skill build, so experiment, then when/if you get higher, see what continues to work (and what doesn't) and adjust accordingly
holy shit if you have to do some stat gymnastics to get over 50% winrate instead of simply being good enough with a hero that you can win over half your matches even some with forced losses where a teammate abandons, how good can you really be at that hero?
im fucking awful at slark but i don't need to filter out games to get above 50% on him
your first link is only normal mm, and ignores ranked which you have a 46% winrate in. both modes and ignoring 1v1 mid you have a sub 50% winrate on him.
yeah i can fiddle with stats too
how can you even have a sub 60% winrate with es
maybe you should learn dota insteaf of es
learn the basics and try es in 10 years again
I don't post often because it's almost impossible to get a straight answer without people flamming others for their opinion. Last try I guess, Any laning build ideas other than playing ES as support because he is NOT A SUPPORT.. really can't be played like one either. I am looking for item builds because at 3k mmr, fighting for mid is futile and annoying. So i was hoping to get more ideas for item builds for Earthspirit for offlane ES. I think rod of atos is great but needs a coordinated team to engage ( don't get that often) and ive seen blink with ghost scepter which is a good one so far. Gonna try that and let ya'll know how it works out.
ok let me break it down for you
u are 3k mmr and asking other people for their opinion, yet u state that es is no support
i say he is just as good as a support as a mid / offlaner and im 5k
but i guess u are right
and sub 50% winrate must be always right yes
and im serious
learn dota
you dont need to ask these kind of shit questions if you would have any basic game sense
as people stated items on es are depending on each game
got clock as enemy? get force staff
got ursa as enemy? get ghost scepter
etc etc
rod of atos is an item so you can actually engage solo instead of having a stunner / slower preparing anything
but your 3k mmr skill must be right that atos is a coordinated team item
pipe must be the item for solo engagements then
i hope you get blink ghost scepter against a veno
that would be nice =]
@kakakotkoa I thank you for your imput hommie. ES as support i think is garbage... my opinion.. just mine. You don't need to flip hommie. I came here to ask questions, hence, "Learn dota". so again thank you for your opinion but leave the mommy/daddy issues at home
everyone is entitled to his opinion, but some things are objectively better or worse
don't be too surprised when people shoot down your opinion
You can easily make ES work on 4 or even 5 position support. The only thing to keep in mind is that you actually have to lane with some sort of a nuker(and ofcourse a coordinated player), where you can kill enemy hero without a problem till level 2-4 time, because ES is exp dependant early. Make sure you have dewarded your woods and just jump from the trees with your combo. Most of the players I am playing against already know how to dodge some stuff, so jumping from trees is always good and hard to dodge at least at the first fight. If you had already won the lane, you just transition to roaming support and scare the shit out of heroes in other lanes. Even if you don't win it, just roam on level 3, you can make a comeback just from well positioned ganks and kills. Bring bottle, tp, buy smoke and you will be fine.
I personally like to play him as a support lately. It has worked out well so far.
@Richard
You think es support is garbage... Please atleast have 50% win with him to give an opinion
Side note people flaming others on a forum with their account profile is pretty pussy regardless of how big you think your epeen is.
side note fuck you
ps. you can easily figure out who i am and where im located so get some balls instead fucktard
I really like the way this random retard is thinking. If you play popular, strong heroes and lose with it, go fuck yourself. If you win with those, go fuck yourself. If you play a hero mostly noone plays, in a way mostly noone plays, but you get low kda (regardless of high win rate), go fuck yourself. If you happened to have good kda, I assume thats couse the hero is op, so go fuck yourself. Unless you play ES, that means youre god-tier player. Ok...
To op: I guess you can do whatever, as long as it works. Try it. The meta changes every time someone tries something and it works... :D Others copy, even more guys copy, etc. Usually it is faster, when pros do it, but anyone can do it, give it a try if you wanna do something.

So I love earth spirit it like undying, if not played with a coordinated team just dies as others watch. He us far from op as far as I am concerned because his mediocre damage nukes fall off horribly just at the end of mid game. He is my most played hero and did have the highest win rate pre Nerf but now not so much. My mmr is 3010 fyi and I've been recently been trying to mirror fuzzyfoot. ( I am a fan btw *wink*). I love the build that he has and works great if I can actually get mid but my mmr is tough fighting foreigners on a us server. So. Anyone out there, ideas for laning earth spirit cause he sucks as hard support ( which is why I think he has such a terrible win rate right now). He has bad stat gains. His right clicks are shit. He does work wonders with silencer though. So what do you think. Mek, pipe,mana boots or go veil in there somewhere. Or try to go more right click damage and tanky build like vanguard urn, pipe basher? Thoughts on this.(especially from fuzzy foot :)
