Farming in the shit tier in General Discussion
Dire Wolf

Here's what I don't get about my shit tier (low 3k solo matches), I don't understand the ineptitude of people playing heroes who need farm. Yet these players win just as many games as me and I'm questioning how valuable farm is in general as it correlates to winning. This might ramble a bit to get to my point but take this match as an example.

Our picks were really bad. Multiple mids, tons of melee vs a void/sky/witch dr, timber held serve on our offlane but naix and sky destroyed our safe and naix got way ahead in levels and gold. However opposing team had a void who went battelfury first item and still finished game with 3.5 cs/min. They also had a sniper mid who had free farm for like 30 mins and somehow barely broke 5 cs/min and finished with 378 gpm (probably going 4/9/10 screwed up his gpm). In the end we won cus naix doesn't have enough push on his own and other team was afk farming, yet doing it horribly. Eventually our massive carry team overtook them.

Why when given free farm are these guys so bad at it in my bracket? My average farm isn't much better if you look at my hero average gpm because I absolutely suck at getting farm when contested or pushed. But given free farm? I can do something with that: http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/897684484

It's not rocket science, all you do is rotate through lanes and kill stuff, never stopping. Other team had us on the ropes but dicked around not pushing, let me rotate lanes and through jungle and stack ancients to my heart's content.

    And this one: http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/856705981
Terrible start, again on the ropes, my cs at ~20 mins was probably 2.5/min. Other team gives me space, I end up with a lil over 5 cs/min, 565 gpm. Not great numbers but point is I was able to farm my way back into the game given space.

Please do not mistake this for bragging or anything like that. I'm awful at farming, terrible at it. Good players find their gold no matter what and I can't do that. But it shocks me how bad people are when they have complete map control at just killing creeps. Like all your lanes will be pushed, other team ahead by 10 kills and no one on enemy team is in lane killing stuff. They're all afk in jungle I guess. I do not get it.

But here's the other point, it doesn't seem to matter! Occasionally I lose a game cus someone afk farms a huge comeback. But most games it's cus other team kills our lanes early and keep on pushing. It doesn't matter if they don't know how to farm if they pick like a bristle back and get off to a 5-0 start or an invoker and do the same mid and gank side lanes.

Does farming even matter that much in my tier or do high impact picks, early push and killing people/not feeding matter more?

Ok that text looks like a bunch of crap thrown at a wall to see what would stick.

To sum it up in two questions, if I focus on improving my farming and it does improve will I actually win more games?

Or should I just pick more effective, non farm dependent heroes and push/gank/whatever?

You don't avoid something because you are terrible at it.

          > if I focus on improving my farming and it does improve will I actually win more games?

yes, one reason lower players suck is because they can't farm to save their lives. give an AM an uncontested lane in 3k and ill doubt they can get a 12 min BF and a 20 min manta.

if you learn how to farm well, even if your item choices are retarded sometimes you can just win because you're *that* farmed compared to the enemy.

          > Or should I just pick more effective, non farm dependent heroes and push/gank/whatever?

just because a hero is less dependent on farm doesn't mean you shouldn't try to get farm whenever possible. plus if you pick a farm dependent hero that will teach you to optimise your farm patterns as well as item choices, and teach you how to farm effectively even when you're behind.

any idiot can get a 14 min BF on AM in an uncontested lane but good players will still get BFs in a reasonable time when their lane is contested by utilising other sources of farm where a bad player would just sit in the contested safe lane for 25 minutes until he gets a BF.

learn to farm -> win games

            Dire Wolf

I guess I just question when I look at my losses and other team's farm is garbage. Like this one:
              http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/888361789

Other team didn't farm at all, just push all game. Razor barely broke 4 cs/min and they still crushed us with a deathball. We just need to farm faster to beat them?

              BenaoLifedancer

i take back what i said...

GET A FUCKING BRAIN --> WIN GAMES

                Metallicize

                  jugger vanguard, support tinker :D
if you actually learn to farm efficiently, but mostly just find farm at any given time you will win more actually.
but positioning and decisions > all.

idk, I think you need to farm well and pick carries to win, never let retarded people use carries, I've been trying to play support in 2.8k and it sucks cause I help carry and they never get items... never! damn, rant game.

                    one and half gun

                      another 3k mmr problem thread ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

                      BenaoLifedancer

and at @Brufucktard, its sad you rly think you're supporting when you cant even google the meaning of it or use wikipedia

                        pls go play lol instead

                        Zus

Iam also at 3k shit. I usually don't pick carrys, fearing my teammates lose early game/no supports. So I just try to support my carry or go mid. In 1 of my last games I was tri laning and supporting PA. We got 2 kills and we were roaming. My PA got a Bfury in 25 min and we kind of won the game in that time 4 v 5. I think these players should just not play Carry

there should be an ignore user option in every forum as a rule. So 12 yo kids like fagnao can be easily ignored and don't hurt the vast majority of useful posts.
