Is this just the beginning of a potentially giant betting scandal where teams get paid to throw?
Dire Wolf: Why particularly here? Generally theres great limits on betting on e-sports compared to other sports like NBA and NFL and Premier League and such. So they will win much more money for winning their games than they would by betting against themselves. Not to mention they ruin their "life" and "dota" career pretty much if they are caught. So i dont think teams will intentionally throw for a bit of money. Maybe if they get paid huuuge by some middle men that knows how to get rid of betting limits, but they wont do it by themselves i believe.

Finger: 70% for any other team to win? No. If there was a bet saying: Will Secret win: Yes: 1.80 - No: 2.05 or something indicating a 45% chance.

so 1st place team will win $10m probably. fairly certain they'd want a premium to throw so lets say $15m so what are you suggesting dire wolf? that someone will bet $1m of hats on the final and a 15:1 shot wins? i don't do esports betting but it sounds fairly unrealistic even if you halve my numbers :)
must say though i think those odds are a bit crazy - no way in a game like dota can you predict the rise and fall of teams a month in advance.
Rocket - Last year, NewBee were favored @ 5.00 to win, the year before that Alliance were favored @ 3.00 or so and they won as well. So they are pretty spot on. This is however, the biggest favorite ive seen paying only 1,80. Thats really confident that Secret will win by bookies. Whereas they only predicted about a 20-40% the favorite would win the previous years.
Secret is boring too watch cause they're too stacked, too many good players on one team = less competition. zzzzz

Wow. If you ask bookmakers theres a 55% chance that Team Secret will pull out as the winner, only 45% chance that one of the other teams will win it all.
The two favorites are:
Team Secret @ 1.80
Evil Geniuses @ 3.50
ALL other teams are 11.00 or above, this means that if you pick another team except for secret and EG and you throw 1000$ on that particular team you will get at least 11000$ in return.
For example, you think Cloud 9 will win? Throwing 1000$ on them will give you 15000$ if they pull it out.
