you have to watch everyday streaming from twitch.com by example and always pick the hero that your team needs, like if you have mid + supp + carry -> then you pick offlaner and so on. the secret is to pick what your team needs to be complete! advice from 4.4k. Goodluck! ;)
and second advice: as far as i play this game by ~10 years, it is useless, just a way of losing time and if i would be again at start i would not do it. i would change the life of dota2 gamer with anything else. like " EG.Suma1l said: being pro dota2 player - competitive player you have or to focus 24/7 on it or to quit".
u dont need to stick to one role untill u hit 4-5k, imo; cz it will only negatively affect your improvement. play what u enjoy most so far.
If you know all spells/items the fastest way to improve is to play the same hero every game, or atleast a very limited pool. Doesn't really matter what role, but mid or carry is probably easiest to win with in pubs
