vlads is really only needed if you jungle (sustain) and you generaly look to sell it later as its only good for sub 20 min rosh and jungling. if you build midas on doom you should probably uninstall dota 2 and settle down on tetris.
i personaly like items that give me movement speed early on in the game: items like shadow blade, drums, phase boots, sange and yasha and even eul scepter (also good for managing mana and setting up combos for your team). after that i like stacking armor from items like shivas and AC, if somebody else on your team is building assault cuirass go for shivas otherwise always get AC first. BKB is needed if you are getting locked down while chasing down their main carry, aghs is only needed when they have somebody who can live through your doom duration and refresher is needed when they have two main carries who got fat like slark and storm for example. and finaly sell phase boots to get travels when money is no issue. i also like going skadi sometimes but this is situational.
and finaly why i think shadow blade is more useful than blink: you are making them buy detection, not just linkeln and health so the more things they need to counter you the harder time they will have winning, you can upgrade shadow blade into silver edge and you can't do that with blink and finaly you get movement speed and damage from it.
also i personaly think that really early on satyr aura is best neutral creep buff since you dont need vlads then lane or jungle, midgame take necromancer creeps for net and ultra late game (6slot) take wolf aura for team if enemy has bkbs. always save your W when you want to ult somebody then trap them with net for secure kill, also use your Q on lane creeps as soon as possible for extra gold.

recently i've been trying oct build on doom. going lotus+oct+radi. it seems pretty legit to me but i wonder if it s better to go vlad+silver edge+scepter kinda builds.
i tried crimson guard+arc boots and lotus orb+phase as first items, and i think 2. is better.
