it doesnt cost 37mill to host that shitty event. and they use the 25% for the prize money. maybe costs 1m to host the event maximum 5m. theres no way it costs more than that, so the other 30mill?

and well say maybe they use 5m for the programmers of the compendium. thats pretty high.

and yes, a chunk probably goes to those who founded the original game dota. someone trademarked dota, and gets paid for it. they have to pay for events. hell, all of their employees, the building to put those employees in.
