Many low skill players say that MMR is just a number but when they play with higher skill players they can't even keep up . What is your approach to this topic ? in General Discussion
MMR is just a number and the Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in competitor-versus-competitor games such as chess.
Dota 2 MMR system is based upon Elo Rating, it's not the EXACT same formula.
So comparing Dota 2 ELO system to ELO system from chess is actually pretty plain stupid.
Long story short:
Everyone listening to autist TNJinzo guy is plain stupid aswell, and in a long run, esp. in a lower tier MMR's, every 500 MMR or so matters.
So the difference between 3000 and 3500 is noticable, 3500 4000 noticable, 4000 4500 noticable, and so on.
The bigest gap in skill is probably somewhere between 3700 and 4200, but don't fool yourself if you think a low 3k player and a high 3k player are made of same skill.
Ye i never agreed when it came to 677 mmr difference having such a high winrate. Eh whatever the scaling of winrates seemed a tad weird, but it was never anything god awful or completely imbalanced.
I only dislike the calibration system and how abusable it is by trash players to get into the 4k bracket, but then again, I don't see any solution to it
There you go
^still my favorite dota player^

mmr is just 3 letters.
ELO is just 3 letters too :p
(ps: I don't listen to TNJinzo)
