I think an important factor is that diffusal is a really good item that literally every agi carry buys anyway, and it pretty much negates her tankiness which is one of the big reasons shes a powerful carry. Also heroes like OD, Nyx and Invoker are all decent and playable now and they all counter mana shield too.
I also really dislike the + lifesteal talent. It doesn't fit the hero well, since she doesn't stay alive by lifestealing, she stays alive by being super tanky with mana shield. Without Mana shield you're a low armour, low hp hero with poor single target damage and lifesteal wont help at all once your mana had been burnt.
Idk if I agree, 25% is a lot, added to the 600 mana she can get at level 20 which means she can absorb another 1500 dmg with her mana, at 60% means she needs to take 2500 more dmg to burn that. Basically with the lifesteal she should stay full hp until her mana is gone. Before she'd be around 30% hp when going oom. So it's a pretty big difference. I mean I'd rather have +15 all stats like TB, but 25% lifesteal isn't bad. The stone gaze stun one seems awful though since everyone just turns around during gaze anyway. It should increase the gaze duration, not just the stun.
Medusa's other talents fit really well though, dmg or int which she needs both badly, evasion which compliments her massive ehp from mana shield already or attack speed which is also really good with split shot. The +1 split shot target seems stupid as shit since creeps die so fast and you can already hit 5 heroes, but 600 mana is incredible.
You're probably right though that it has to do with diffusal on every hero. Manta diffusal juggers crush her.
It mostly is the speed of the game that is hurting her. She is still a strong hero in the late game. She just often struggles to get to that point in this meta.
I wouldn't be surprised to see people switch up the item build for her and bring her into the meta. She can lane well, she teamfights, and she is probably one of the best heroes for wiping a team trying to siege highground. She just needs a way to be useful midgame without sacrificing too much farm.

Split Shot is a sh*t skill on a hero that does very little right click damage on her own.
Needs tremendous amounts of safelane farm, yet is best laned mid.

The game being so frantic and active-heavy with heroes having so much more mobility than 'Dusa can handle.
Ulti doesn't synergize well with the hero's strengths.
Little to no sustainability on both her health and mana pool, safe for Bloodstone which you do NOT want to build on her. Makes pushing a pain in the a.
Watching one that has a Blink and SnY currently. Trying to position herself so she's always in front of them.
Pick a drow in team and see her being relevant.
Buffing cores is already the meta anyhow. Though she won't be anywhere near an Empowered melee carry's potential.
And yeah, Blink would certainly be my go-to pick item for fight initiations.
Mask of madness. When more people start getting it I think she will shine mid game. Snake cd is 11 seconds, silence duration is 8, leave mana shield and multi shot on and hope you don't need to ult in those 8 seconds, or ult ahead of that. Add a dragon lance and aquila and she is pretty tanky early.
I'm bummed I never got to play her with old op dominator. The +6 stats would've been amazing. Now idk if it's worth it unless you find a wolf to tag along behind you.
Useless hero spam q and pray you can farm till 40m, just much worse am, cant solo kill anyone on map till have 20k networth, ez to avoid her ulti

Also with the +2 seconds gaze and the right setup, maybe blink or pike or smth, i think refresher dusa is justifiable, it gives a potential 10 seconds of stun, and good mana regen, although it does cost a buttload of mana to use. Obv very out there and experimental, sort of a meme, but whats ur thoughts.
Medusa needs some aura type damage from her teammates. The obvious choice is Drow Ranger. Others are Vengeful and Magnus.
She was one of the greatest late-game damage dealers before 7.00. But with changed mechanics, heroes that need a lot from and can't fight early isn't that good anymore.

I personally tried Blademail the other day against a team of Ember and Skywrath, and it was really good. Definitely not a meme build.
She is currently my best hero (base on my dotabuff stats) but I haven't pick her yet since 7.00. Mainly because there is a lot of better hero than her in todays meta.
Her lane is also questionable but I think mid is her best lane.
Always go for maelstrom > mjolnir.

you throw magic snake and get all of your mana back in lane and hit like a truck and shield + your ult makes you harder to gank, there's nothing wrong with medusa, definitely a good mid hero who's very effective but like most heroes in dota, shes situational.

I used to play her a lot, haven't really since 7.0, just one game. She seemed fine, pretty much the same but there's more creeps on the map to farm. But her winrate is awful in all the brackets except 2k she is 50%. Is she bad right now or not, and why?
It still looks like morons rush linkens on her and maybe they can't full farm the jungle in 2 mins and take advantage of the creeps. Mask of madness is pretty awesome for farming on her though and I like her talents cus they fit well with what she wants to do.
I think it might just be the faster play that hurts her, you can't afk farm all day and win anymore.
