no you just delay and delay and delay and eventually your spectre does shit and you win.
Play aggressiveness but involved once you have haunt. Just don't die and save for relic. Just make sure your other 4 teammates can either stall or break even (or slightly behind) for the first 20-25 mins of a game.
I don't understand how Spectre isn't even considered an early game core. OFC you have a huge impact after Radiance, Strgh talets and heart, but early game, if you get Treads, early Yasha, RoA and maybe a Vanguard (at least PMS) - you can haunt and solo kill a hero or two.
You can farm wherever on the map you want - because when your team roams as 4 (and forces fights to create space), you can just haunt in and screw. Build should be treads+RoA so you can spam your dagger for ez farm (nice damage, go over cliffs to get between camps easier).
Maybe your laning phase just sucks balls, so you aren't able to have the early game impact you should.
You need Radiance and levels, after that Spectre is almost sealed to win in a pub.
You inflict too much AOE damage, while practically doing nothing.

Treads, ring of Aquila, PMS, and diffusal or manta first allows you to be a strong early fighter, then you get radiance and transition into farming the late game items. She's strong at all stages of the game which is why she has such a massive winrate.
Sub 2k here, climbing with spec, 92.3% winrate...
It's all about playing defensively, playing safe, then killing everyone at 30m because you've got a vanguard, Manta, radiance and just ulted in mid teamfight, killed both the supports and finished the team

Cus spectre has a very low floor. Any dumbass can press R and cleanup kills. I would say spec has a high ceiling as well cus of the issues you mentioned, but even baddies can be good enough with her.
Spectre is amazingly ez. If you pick her, DO NOT rush Radiance like a moron. Get some cheap early items (phase, urn, aquila) then make a yasha into manta so you're not useless and forcing your team into a 4 v 5 game for 30 minutes.
Get rad when the time is right which is usually after manta/diffuse

shes not a good midas carrier, she cant flashfarm, she needs a LOT of gold to become reliable on and is INSANELY frail even with the radiance powerspike. how is spectre good??????
are all other carries just pure shit???
