Pick something, which actually does impact and not sits afk under the tower wating for the lane to push.
Don't pick alot of heroes, stick to a small pool.
1.for some heros like nerubian or pudge (if u offlane him) u just need to stay back and get exp till 6 to start killing, and w8 wave to reach your tower and u take some gold by killing creeps
2.considering that the opponents are good enough to deny well and pull to prevent creeps reach your tower, and also pressuring you to even prohibit your exp earning i suggest picking wr+some clarity potions to spam arrow for creep lasthit, or pick shaker buy soul ring and spam fissure or pick lc maxing Q spamming that overwhelming odds for last hit aside buying soul ring again... or similar choices like this.
depends on your hero pool, generally speaking in current meta you want someone who can have impact starting from early on, maybe with a few levels and one key item. You also appreciate being able to lane/and fall back on jungle should you be zoned hard.
Earthshaker, Legion, Sand King, Pit Lord, Natures Prophet, Abba etc. fill that role fairly nicely.
Regarding the comment above, please do not offlane pudge, it's quite bad and he is incredibly easy to zone.
As far as advices go:
Figure what kind of lane you ll be up against A: solo/duo that you can contest B: Duo/tri that will probably kill you should you step outside of your tower range
1) Warding
IF A: Place aggressive ward in their jungle in order to prevent them from pulling without your vision-->allows you to contest
IF B: Place defensive ward on your side of the map close to your jungle so you can secure bounty and your jungle camps
2)Posture
Generally speaking you want creeps to be near your tower in any scenario, unless you are pressuring the lane hard. A lot of carry players at 3-5k range prioritize lane equilibrium to be on their side. You can exploit that by nuking their wave and pushing them under their tower that makes them either burn through their regen tanking creeps OR make them miss Lhs under their tower and pushing wave towards your tower eventually. A cool trick when your lane is pushing is to go for a big camp pull, their supports tend to stack it for themselves but obviously they can't pull if the lane is pushing. If you manage to pull that off for a few waves during laning phase that is HUGE economic damage to their hc and you will guarantee easier game for your team.
Other than that try not to tilt, it's legit one of the most tilting lanes when you are being face fucked by duo supports in your own jungle after abandoning the lane for their hc to farm.
fuck the safelaner's life
ruin his lane instead of ensuring your own farm
for laning itself you can just get a couple of high mmr replays to learn from, I'm not exactly the best laner
Can people stop talking in their own dota 1 language
What the hell is nerubian I'm not gonna bother googling that and how the fuck pudge is supposed to offland
I've got 2 tips for ya
1) when u block let one creep go right away and block the shit out of the rest. The first creep should get there like 10ish seconds before the rest if u do it right. This usually guarantees u get at least 1 or 2 waves cuz it'll be pushing into u
2) if the supports are pulling like crazy then pull the camp yourself

Just curious about some things that 4-5k offlaners do regularly that a 3k scrub like me might want to implement. Any advice is good advice! Thanks!
