Movement is not as important as casting spells and having map awareness and u dont play fps games from top view so its kinda funny
I use WASD but your idea for ability mappings is pretty bad. Here's what I use:
Abilities (The keys surrounding WASD)
Q: First
E: Second
Z: Third
X: Fourth
C: Fifth
Ultimate: R
Items (Similar keys with Alt modifiers)
Alt-Q: First
Alt-W: Second
Alt-E: Third
Alt-A: Fourth
Alt-S: Fifth
Alt-D: Sixth
All above keys on quick cast except two item keys to allow double tapping for items such as Force Staff and TP scroll.
Attack: Caps lock
Stop: Space bar
Chat Wheel: F
Micro:
Alt-1: Select Hero
Alt-2: Select All
Alt-3: Select All except Hero
1,2,3,4: Custom bound units for Micro heroes
Others:
Scroll up: Quickbuy items
Scroll down: Deliver items
Scroll click: Buy sticky (TP scroll)
Obviously, I would not recommend anyone to use this over what they are already using. I have made several changes to this setup to best for my comfort zone and actually find it really easy to use. The benefit of this is quite apparent, since I find it much easier to target and move my hero, especially in chaotic teamfights where edge panning can take away just a little bit of time away. It also allows me to focus on what I want to do and where I want to go a lot easier. I do obviously use the minimap to navigate large jumps or look on other side's of the map. Then again, to each his own.
^nobody cares mate, he's talking about moving your hero using WASd like fps games, ability mapping is not the main concern here, sigh... Indians.
What if you used WASD keys to move like in fps games? and as for your abilities they were on your mouse/other keys

Sigh, people who don't read posts fully before commenting and targetting a person's nationality for the apparent flaws they see in their opinions. ADHD. Attention spam limited to memes. Likely blames people of other countries for losing games. Sad.
That moment when u agree with anomalinas comments on someone
In all seriousness I think using click and drag screen movement and the regular QWER set up is probably best
Edge panning is slightly inferior to the other 2, but imo wasd screen movement takes up too many hotkeys and I'm uncomfortable using alt+key bindings
However OP is talking abt hero movement and I'm pretty sure ur talking abt screen movement so they're slightly different
It would be neat in that Crumbling Arena/Crumbling Island/something-something custom game.
Mouse is always superior.
How about playing FPS games by having ASDW to move your camera vision?
Animalina sry can't be arsed to spell it right, OPs talking about hero MOVEMENT using WASD, do you use that? No you don't, and nobody needed an essay on how curry eaters set their hot mkeys, so pls, type that shit elsewhere
LOL, you think racism is a serious offence for people on the internet who hide behind an alias and release all their negativity and toxicity because of their low self esteem and lack of motivation in life? Nah, it can be a lot worse than this. You just have to move on and realise it will only hurt their online persona, not yourself.

First ability-left click
2nd ability-right click
3rd ability-MOUSE 3
4th ability-space bar
I think dota should have the option of not using mouse to move your hero. I think battlerite has this.
